Illustration

When our founder decided
to go to art school he thought
he would be a professional illustrator. Who could have known that he would fall in love with typography?
Still, illustration is a valuable skill to have when you are a designer. Many of the clients we've had have been hooked on our illustration styles and skills. Some of the illustrations that we are particularly fond of were commissioned by MCI Worldcom, NAGHSR, and Jim McCright, author of The Ultimate Golf Secret.
Illustrations have a power
that is hard to explain.
Maybe that's why they are
so effective.

NAGHSR: The National Association of Highway Safety Representatives had us do some illustrations for their new materials as part of a new Corporate ID. We didn't want to run into any legal problems, so we decided to design our own cars to illustrate. It was a lot of fun, and it added a whole new dimension to their marketing materials.

MCI Worldcom: This series of illustrations was done for two direct mail campaigns in conjunction with one of the major airlines. This was also the first time we had tried out a new technique that emulates watercolor. We were all very happy with the results. Jon's favorite is the phone.

The Ultimate Golf Secret: The author asked us to design the cover and interior of his book, The Ultimate Golf Secret, which he self-published. For the illustrations on the cover we video taped his golf swing at the local country club one afternoon. We took that to a video artist and had him break his swing down into frames. The chalkboard style illustrations were based on those video stills.
