Ideas...

Jon
10.29.04 @ 02:30 PM CST
listening to: Zeitgeist by Bruce Sterling (via iTunes)
feeling: Okay. I'm glad it's Friday.

I read this quote today:

“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples, then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea, and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.”

—George Bernard Shaw

That's the idea. wink

I'm a married man!

Jon
10.28.04 @ 10:09 PM CST
listening to: The TV playing an ER Rerun...So, yeah.
feeling: Gassy...

Okay, so I got married on the 16th. I am still not used to it...but the one bonus thing is that I get to harrass Jocelyn about posting to "our" 'Blog. (She's promised to contribute an essay about Croissants, and the manners in which they improve her life.)

There are lots of things that are being called "ours" now that we're married. For example...I am not fixing MY computer (which, I broke, thank you very much), I am fixing OUR computer. And we aren't driving HER car this weekend because MINE has a fucked up wheel bearing again, we are taking OUR new car this weekend because OUR old car has a fucked up wheel bearing again.

On the other hand, I don't know if I can spend OUR $75 on a new harddrive for OUR 6 year old Powerbook, because WE have a $1400 Dental bill to pay (to not get a crown put on Jocie's tooth).

Wedding Photos...

Jon
10.26.04 @ 02:05 PM CST
listening to: Still nothing.
feeling: I am experiencing vertigo right now.

Okay, so wedding photos are starting to trickle in, so here's a taste from the rehearsal dinner.

We're back!

Jon
10.26.04 @ 01:21 PM CST
listening to: Nothing. Absolutly Nothing.
feeling: I don't know, man.

Okay, so we're back, and not that anyone ever reads this thing, but I thought I should at least make an new entry that breaks up the long empty space on the calendar a little bit.

The cruise was good. I like my new camera. I will put up picks as soon as I have them all developed. I shot something like 300 exposures while we were away. I am sure that a lot of them were bracketing and stuff, because I do that, but that means a ,probably, very large web gallery for you all to digest when we get them all back.

I'll add them to Matrimony.Sandruck.com as soon as I can. Wedding pics will be up there soon as well.

Well...as soon as I get them back from the photographer.

Phirst Foto...

Jon
10.11.04 @ 01:03 PM CST
feeling: Ummm...

So, I get a new camera, as my previous post stated.
Here is a sample photograph from my new camera!

Where is my Mommy? wink

That's right y'all, Mabel took a few hours to get the fact that Jocie wasn't going to come home for a little while...and, curiously, taking her picture did little to cheer her up. So...this is her, looking forlorned. She cheered up eventually. Although I left her at the croney's last night, and that made us both sad. sad

Oh, and in case you don't know what's going on...we're getting married this weekend, and she's already up in the MD to get shit ready. It makes Mabel sad.

It makes me sad too...but Mabel is a dog, and doesn't understand what's going on. So I feel bad for her.

Saturday, October 9th

I got a new toy!

Jon
10.09.04 @ 09:50 AM CST
listening to: The Batman (new cartoon, bitches!)
feeling: Pretty good. It's Saturday Morning!

I got a new camera!

I haven't been able to find mine since we moved, so I am really excited. Wanna see it? Dig it here.

I looked at this camera for a long ling time, but I was on the fence about dropping the cash on it...but then, Jocie bought it for me as a present! I am so excited. I want to go waste a WHOLE LOT of film.

I need to get a bunch of batteries for it and a press-pack of film for the Honeymoon.

Thursday, October 7th

I am a good sport.

Jon
10.07.04 @ 05:12 PM CST
listening to: NPR. I must be an elitist liberal or something. God!?!
feeling: Ha!

Okay, so I am a good sport, and to prove it, here's Cartoon Number 2, which they had better like, or I am going to make them eat it and pay me $260. Yup. $260. That's what it's worth to me.

Shit.

Rejected Cartoon...

Jon
10.07.04 @ 12:16 PM CST
listening to: Nothing at all. The sound of my creativity being torn from my soul.
feeling: Guess

Rejected Cartoon for a Postcard:

dryerventsafety

If you don't get it, you're an imbecile.

Sufficed to say, no one at work got it, so I get to draw some unfunny shit of somebody getting their eyebrows singed by their dryer, which is on fire...or was. That's NOT funny.

Although, this would be:

Actually, that's be more like, "National Be Sure Your Eye-Brow Waxer Speaks English Month."

Good Taste Does not Make You Creative

Jon
10.06.04 @ 02:40 PM CST
listening to: NPR - As always
feeling: Sleepy. Why am I always so sleepy?

Okay, so I said I'd expound on this, and I should, because it is a post that I always feel like posting, but then I never do...because, you should know this already. HAVING GOOD TASTE DOES NOT MAKE YOU CREATIVE.

Seriously.

Decorating your house is not design. It is decorating. Putting 4,006 fonts on your brochure is not typography. It is STUPID. Buying a painting at Ross does not make you creative. It makes you frugal...and that is commendable, but it is not creative.

I am sick of this crap. Since when did having descriminating taste trump creating the thing in the first place. I don't care if you don't like my soup, bitch, make your own damn soup.

You, that soup thing is a result of watching Gilmore Girls. Damnit.

The Last 15 Minutes...

Jon
10.05.04 @ 11:53 PM CST
listening to: Nip/Tuck Rerun...on the TV, duh
feeling: Okay. Very tired...

So, I decided to start this entry in the last 15 minutes of the day. Let's see if I can finish it before my time runs out and it's tomorrow. wink

I have a few basic things, which I will bust out into other posts tomorrow. Here they are:

1) I like OS X a lot. I can't believe how well it runs on my old-as-dirt G3. It's unbelievable. It's really breathed some life back into a machine that I had been considering replacing.

2) Having good taste does not make you creative. If I hear one more housewife being called an "interior designer" because they decorated their friend's bathroom, I am going to shit my pants. (Common theme, I know.)

3) I think I have an idea for the interface on my new site. It's going to be simple and sleek and make perfect sense, yet none at all. So either everyone will love it, or everyone will hate it. The way I see it, it can either be good or 1)not orderly enough for the order people, or 2)not random enough for the random people, or 3) both or 4) neither. I'm hoping it works...although everyone I explain it to keeps looking at me like I am nuts.

Done! 11:53! - Jon
