Okay, so it was another big weekend.
As a few people know, last weekend we attended a church-mandated weekend retreat for people who don't know how to get along. Really, I think it was supposed to make us think about stuff and talk about stuff that perhaps we had not thought or talked about...but Jocie's so lovely, I just do what she says anyway, so what does it matter? (That's a joke, y'all.)
Well, that was a busy weekend, and we lost a lot of housework in the shuffle...but never fear, we made it all up on Saturday (well, really Jocelyn did...I have no idea what I did), because Terry, the priest who is marrying us, was coming over! ![]()
More after the jump…

listening to: NPR, again
feeling: Ummm. No.
Ummm...I might be wrong, but I don't think it's too much to ask that people know how to use their computers. I mean, yesterday I must have answered the same question like 10 times...the answer to all of which was "Have you tried to reboot your computer?" That fixed it.
Your computer is a tool. Learn how to use it. Granted, it's more complex than a hammer, but it hasn't been around as long either. Maybe in a few thousand years the computer will be as easy to use...but you won't be drawing breath then, so learn to use a computer now.
Actually, there are people who can't use a hammer either. Fuck it, stay home people. ![]()

Okay, so apparently Bruce Sterling (whose writing I generally enjoy, although I am wading about waist-deep in The Difference Engine right now) has a 'Blog on Wired.com. I, being the behind the bleeding edge, but more with-it than the general poulation guy that I am, just found this out.
He links, in the Blog, to this short story...or maybe essay, I'm not really sure:
http://www.manufacturingcenter.com/dfx/archives/1299/1299trl.asp
It's about designers, and I am a designer, and I think it's funny that Bruce likes them. Us. Well, he's talking about product design, so I guess really them.
I haven't checked them out, but it says you can also find more writing of his at:
http://www.well.com/conf/mirrorshades
If you're curious about him, I'll put some links to his books in after the Jump.

listening to: NPR, still, again, pretty regularly.
feeling: Umm...I don't know. Tired.
Okay, so since I am reasonably sure that my bosses will never check this website, like, ever, I feel like I can rant on here with reckless abandon.
It shouldn't be a huge surprise to anyone that I don't like my job. I am a designer, man, and I gotta design. Staying up late at night, ignoring my fiance, and having no social life are getting the better of me. I like the work I do at night better. That's all there is to it. If I could start getting decent local business, I'd give my two weeks as soon as we close on the house.
We'll do the math after the jump.

Hello all and welcome to the fancy new Sandruck.com friends and family weblog. Back in January I registered Sandruck.com so that my family could all have e-mail addresses that were independant of their ISPs, employers, and educational institutions. I also thought I'd be building a big site so that everyone could keep track of each other on the 'net as we spread out all over the country. Unfortunately, I've been a little busy, and a little lazy, so it hasn't happened, but as far as I see it, this is the first step...
