So I start my new job tomorrow, and I am looking forward to it. Although I have to be honest, I will miss my afternoon nap. I will let you all know how it goes!!

The Orange chicken is good on it's own. The tahini dressing is cooling and would be tasty on veggies too.
Orange Chicken Marinade
1 c. Orange Juice
1 TBL paprika
1 t. turmeric
1 1/2 t. cuin
3 chicken breast. Marinade at least 1 hour, or over night and bake. Yum
Tahini Dressing Next

So, whenever I put up the initial design for stuff on this site one of you rubes invariably asks "why is it in spanish?" or "is that site in italian?" which prompts me to explain what Greeking is, and where it comes from, and why designers use it.
Well, this is a pretty complete site explaining it. So, the next time I put up new work, let's try and remember this entry. Okay?

So, I was just at LogoPond.com, and it revealed to me that there are now over 11,000 logos on LogoPond, from something like 6,000 members now.
AND I STILL HAVE 2 IN THE TOP 20. Booyahkasha!

Last night Jon and I made food for the week. We now have a frittata stuffed with veggies for breakfast. Orange chicken Pita with Tahini Dressing and stuffed with more veggies for lunch. An assortment of flavorful toppings including a freshly made cilantry chutney to accompany crackers and cheese for a snack. For dinner we have Sante Fe Chicken with a marinade that smells like a great base for guacamole and a grilled veggie pasta primavera. I'll report back at the end of the week with the tasty results.

So, we had an eventful weekend. Ed & Nancy took us to Lonesome Dove for Ed/Jocelyn's Birthdays. Fan-Frickin'-Tastic. You may recall from last time that I ate a bunch of animals that I hadn't eaten before.
Well, this time I had Pork. It was great pork. They had a lot of seafood on the menu, which changes daily, so the choices were a little slim for the non-fish eater, but the pork I had was awesome. The other things we all ate were:
BBQ Duck Spring Roll : Which was awesome. Pretty straight forward, except for some very nice micro-herbs that were in there.
Borsin-Stuffed Kangaroo Carpaccio Nachos: We've had these before. They're very good. Who knew it could be so tasty to eat a giant, cute, fuzzy nuisance. With the rate that Kangaroos are overrunning Australia (the Autralian government orders over 5000 Kangaroos be killed every year because they are a hazard and a pest), it might be the closest thing to sustainable carnivorism.
DayBoat Sea Scallops: I've never eaten a scallop before. These had a nice spicy, sweet sauce with some nice crunchy things that I cannot, truthfully, remember their name. I ATE A SCALLOP!

So, I know that is normal for someone to cry at a wedding. It is either that the person can't go to a wedding without crying or that they are so happy (or sad) about these two people that they are close to are sharing such a special day with them. I fear that the song Kevin is suggesting for our first dance will make me cry (as it has every time I listen to it). Does that make it the perfect choice or not a good idea?

...a design classic of our very own! We just came back from DWR, where we bought our very own Eiffel Armchair, designed by Charles & Ray Eames. It's a design classic, and it's something that I never thought I'd own, or that it would be practical...but Jocelyn totally wanted to get it, and it's not really very expensive when you look at chairs overall...so we got one!
It'll be here next Thursday, so when Dad & Greg come down they'll get to see and sit in our very own design classic showpiece in our very own house.
It's going to look so good with our Paperclip desk in our little home office. The only thing that would make it better is an ebony cork floor.

So who else knows that they have gray hair- I mean that I noticed the first one a year ago and now I have at least 3 bright white hairs.
So who else, at 23, had gray hairs?

Because today I chose to work from home.

So, as you can see, the site has style again. (Not that I did anything awesome...when I saw it has style, I mean that I have written and implemented the cascading style sheets document for it.) It took a suprisingly smal amount of time to actually do what I set out to do here, and I am really pleased with how it's turned out.
This is what I look like while I code. Scary, right?
Anyway, you'll notice that I've added a tiny, but very useful feature in the sidebar of the site. You can now login (and by You I mean registered users, such as my family and friends who have logins) directly from any page on the site.

feeling: Fine. I like my new computer.
Okay, in order to fix this site, as I've figured out that it doesn't work right in any version of IE, I am going to strip out all the styling and replace it with one central style document. That means that the site will temporarily look like it's 1994.
I hope to have it looking good again, if not significantly better than it ever has, by the end of the weekend.
The site will FUNCTION while I am messing with it...but it will be ugly as hell. So, go ahead and use it if you like...but use at your own risk. Risk of Ugly Website!
Wish me luck!

How does one choose their first song?
Should it be a song you've always loved (at least while together)?
A song that one person feels strongly about and the other person can understand why?
A new song? An old song?
Does it have to be a waltz?
Does the artist matter? Should the artist matter?
And finally, am I over thinking this? (I know that I am but please, I need help).

So yesterday, the Save-the-Date cards got here, and two of the vases that I ordered for the church! So it is all showing up!
What is left to arrive you might ask, well I have more vases, flowers, I ordered stamps (my local place didn't carry the ones I wanted) and that's about it!!

It's happened again. One of my logos has been included in another article concerning "really f***ing clever logo design."
Check it out:
It's referenced in there alongside some really great logos, like my all-time favorite, the FedEx logo. Although it's not a write-up in Print, or CA, or How, it's still nice to be noticed.
Now if only Jon Walker had the foresight to use the freakin' logo!

Normally I don't spend a lot of time on business cards. You may already know that this guy sends me about a dozen business cards a month, and I lay them out, and the client "corrects" them until they suck, and so you never see them, because they suck.
Well, because of that cycle, I tend to get a little down-hearted about them in general. You know, why bother making them good in the first place if the client is going to ruin them?
Today, however, I am all high off of a paper promo that I got in the mail that highlights ID packages, which normally include business cards. So, I thought that since I actually did something cool, even though the clients will probably kill them, that I would show off a little before they got their grubby little mitts on them, and me.

So during this past week, we saw a mouse in the living room, it was on the floor and disappeared under the radiator in the dining rm.
Today, a squirrel tried to come in through the window, he was eating one of the plants in the window and climbing up further and further into the box and trying to come into the apartment. I had to scare it off, so bring it on animals I am ready for you!

Lots of people are saying that they iPhone is great, except that the keyboard is weird to use, slow, confusing, etc. I've used a few smartphones, and let me tell you, none of them are a picnic to type on. (Although my Nokia E62 is a breeze. Much easier than a Treo or the Blackberries I've used.)
Anyway. This video makes my point for me:

Well, I've finally done it. I've been talking about it since they announced Dual-Core Mac laptops. I said "once Adobe releases CS3, I'll be getting a new machine."
Well, this morning they released CS3 Master Collection, and this afternoon I ordered my new MacBook!
My new baby will be a 17" MacBook Pro, with the High-Def screen and the 250 GB HDD (that's a hard drive, duh) and dual 2.4 GHz processors. Booyah!
My current iMac has a single 1.8 GHz process, so this will be a significant boost in power, speed and, for me, productivity!
The other really cool thing is that the HD Screen is 1920x1200 pixels. My iMac's screen is 1680x1050 pixels. That's an extra 30% of workspace! I am so pumped to be portable and not have to give up workspace, in fact, gain some!
I should get it in a week or so. It's a custom configuration...so it takes a little time. I can't wait!

So the wedding is getting there...
Today, I ordered my dress, I am still working on flowers, and I ordered my dress.
Oh and just for mom, I called back about that job right after we spoke, there are going to make certain that it was received.
