Okay, so here's the problem. I just finished a website that I designed for another designer. I'm really proud of it, and everyone I have tried to explain it to fails to understand that it's all me, except for the samples in the portfolio themselves.

It's so tough, because I think everyone thinks that every designer does everything. Tahra doesn't do websites, or the style of illustration I do. I don't do stuff that she does.

So, here's the thing. It was really cool doing a site for another designer. She let me do stuff that other clients would never let me do. But how much good is it for me if noone understands what I did on the site?!?!

bad news jon i hit your link to the site and it said that the site is still under construction. but i get what you are talking about with the what work belongs to which person, just because I designed the museum to hold the art does not make me the artist for every painting, or even one painting.

No, that's not what I am talking about. SEE WHAT I MEAN!?!?

I designed this site. With the exception of her actual portfolio sample, I did every piece of design, illustration, and typography, as well as coding it (most of which I did by hand).

I lay no claim to the pieces in her portfolio...nor would I wish to. It's her work.

But people naturally assume that she had something to do with the design of the site...which she did not, aside from paying me to do it! Grrrr!
