The Patron Saints of Graphic Design

It makes me wonder, who is the Patron Saint of designers? I'll look it up and put it below the jump.
okay, so Graphic Design does not have a patron saint, per se...but Advertising does!

Fuckers.

I think this proves one or two things...1) Ad Agencies have a considerable lobby in the vatican, whereas the AIGA almost never gets off its ass. 2) Even God doesn't understand what the hell graphic design is. wink

Here's the thing. I think this guy ( St. Bernardine of Siena ) sounds a lot more like a designer than an advertiser. Dig the quote from americancatholic.org:

"Especially known for his devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus, Bernardine devised a symbol—IHS, the first three letters of the name of Jesus in Greek, in Gothic letters on a blazing sun. This was to displace the superstitious symbols of the day, as well as the insignia of factions (for example, Guelphs and Ghibellines). The devotion spread, and the symbol began to appear in churches, homes and public buildings."

See? Dude was a designer.
